Phil Price

Phil Price was Arkansas' seventeenth director of the Employment Security Division, serving from July 1, 1994 - February 10, 1997. Director Price was appointed by Governor Jim Guy Tucker, who served as acting governor during Bill Clinton's presidential campaign, and took over the office when Mr. Clinton was elected in 1993. Mr. James Salkeld was Director of the Arkansas Department of Labor during Mr. Price's tenure. Price enjoyed a long career with the state of Arkansas including working with Governor Clinton's Economic Development office.

Mr. Jim Guy Tucker also enjoyed an illustrious political career in Arkansas, serving as prosecuting attorney for the sixth Judicial District, as Arkansas Attorney General for two terms, and as a U.S. Congressman. In 1990, he was elected Lieutenant Governor during what would be William Jefferson Clinton's last term as governor.

In 1994, Tucker was elected Governor in his own rights, beating out the prominent Republican politician Sheffield Nelson. Governor Tucker, in July of 1994, appointed Phil Price as ESD Director, replacing Clinton appointee William "Bill" Gaddy.
